Transmutation
Level: Cleric 3, Druid 3, Sorcerer/Wizard 4
Components: S, F
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
[[SRD:Aiming a Spell (Spell Descriptor)|]]: {{{subj}}}
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

You temper pearl items with an additional 1 Hardness and 1 HP point per 4 caster levels instantly, to a maximum of 5 at 20th level. Pearl's tempering bonus does not stack, but can be used to overlap on an item already tempered. This tempering bonus stacks with the hardness enhancement granted by the magical enhancement from enchanting weapons and armor.

Focus: A single pearl (of the pearl type to be molded) worth at least 50. This pearl is not consumed in the process.

Practical Application of Pearl Harden

If you have pearl gear, its a must. If you want something slightly harder than steel, and aren't a spend-thrift, this is for you. Since pearl isn't metal, wood, or bone, that makes it immune to many other spell effects that target those materials. Plus, just imagine how holy your paladin would look decked out in pearl plate mail. Pearl can be shaped by the pearl shape spell.
