How does this class survive at lower levels? No defensive or offensive options at level 1. Craft Monsters is quite expensive for lower leveled characters and surprise rounds would really suck for this class.

That speaking, if I can start at around 5th level, this class would be a blast to play.

Level 1 does seem a bit weak, I suppose, but you only need 200 gold to make a creature of equivalent power level to yourself. Before you get that you can always try hitting your enemies with a stick or simply talking others out of their hard-earned money. The Strategist does have party face as a side role, after all. --Foxwarrior 06:28, July 19, 2010 (UTC)
200 gold and to be one level higher than you presently are (at which point a monster of your CR costs 800 gold, or almost all of your WBL). Getting from level 1 to level 2 looks like the hard part with this class. Not that that's particularly important; life is cheap at level 1. --IGTN 15:31, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, I was just wondering if you could build wondrous architecture into the monster control vault.

I don't see why not. Keep in mind that you still have to have room for the class feature-based objects in there, and the expanded size is a set value. --Foxwarrior 17:49, August 19, 2010 (UTC)
