Mercious is a character created for the 1983 LJN toyline and related media/merch. Though Mercious didn't get an action figure or appear in any of the color/story books.

Conjecture

As Mercious ONLY appears in the LJN Puffy Stickers, it's possible that the character was designed for the toyline, but at some point someone decided they needed more girl characters, and Mercious became Mercion. But then when making the Puffy Stickers, they had an open slot and threw in the existing drawing.
