Forums: Index > Watercooler > More Book of Gears Special Qualities

I finally got the Book of Gears up. It's incomplete. One of the areas it's complete is Magic Armor, Clothing, and Accessories. There aren't very many special qualities there for minor or moderate, and none for major. So let's come up with some ideas for additional special qualities for those kind of items. Well, what did you have in mind, us posting idea's here? Or us making idea on the actual page, to be added/removed as others see fit. → Rith (talk) 01:12, September 10, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, posting ideas here. The good stuff will get moved onto the page. Surgo 01:20, September 10, 2009 (UTC)
Well, just as a working list, here could be a few Major Qualities:
  • Blindsight: Blindsight 60 feet. Iconically placed on helmets and Listen-based items.
  • Free: Continual Freedom of Movement effect. Iconically placed on loose robes and dexterity boosting items.
  • Paradigm: Can take 10 on a save up to 3/day. Iconically placed on armgaurds and save boosting items.
  • Beastial: Can add full natural armor bonus to AC, even if wearing armor. Iconically placed on breastplates and natural armor increasing items.
  • Heroic: May treat armor as having an enhancement bonus equal to your Str score. Iconically placed on loose robes and str boosting items.
  • Masterful, Greater: May take 10 on any skill check up to 6/day. Iconically placed on gloves and skill boosting items.
A few moderate qualities I thought of while I was making that list:
  • Masterful, Lesser: May take 10 on skill related to item. May only be placed on skill boosting items.
  • Paragon: Can take 10 on a single save a day. Iconically placed on armgaurds and save boosting items.
Now then, skill checks come a lot more often than rounds in a battle do, and are hardly used solely in battle, so, that's my justifacation for the 6/day limit on 'Greater Masterful'. While this is merely a working list, you may go ahead and tell me where I screwed up. XD → Rith (talk) 04:58, September 11, 2009 (UTC)
A minor quality I think would be useful:
  • Speed: Adds 10 feet to base land speed. Iconically placed on boots and rings. --Havvy 21:55, September 14, 2009 (UTC)
Everything numeric in the Book of Gears scales somehow, so that should too. Surgo 01:54, September 15, 2009 (UTC)
