THE SUMMONING KEYWORD Many powers in this sourcebook have the summoning keyword. These powers do not follow the same rules as summoning powers from the Player’s Handbook 2. Instead, these powers should be treated as conjurations unless stated otherwise in the power’s description. This is an abstract way of resolving summoning, and is used with swarms in mind. Most summoning powers in this sourcebook deal with swarms of spiders, and such creatures are more like zones and area attacks than other summons.

ARACHNOMANCERS AND WIZARD POWERS The arachnomancer class is an example of how a class can be reflavoured to fit any background- in this case spiders. As the arachnomancer is, essentially, a wizard, an arachnomancer can take wizard powers in place of arachnomancer powers. The same is true of a wizard taking arachnomancer powers. At the DM’s option, this can extend to feats as well. Any wizard powers taken as arachnomancer powers become arachane weaves, and arachnomancer powers taken as wizard powers become arcane spells.
